Board Size Progression
As you advance through ZooBlocks, your game board grows larger, creating more strategic possibilities and challenges.
| Levels | Board Size | Strategy Focus |
| 1-2 | 4×4 | Learn the basics and first clear goals |
| 3-4 | 5×5 | Build consistency with slightly more space |
| 5-7 | 6×6 | Start combining line clears and animal matches |
| 8-10 | 7×7 | Plan multi-line turns and combo setups |
| 11-14 | 8×8 | Manage larger boards and more flexible patterns |
| 15+ | 9×9 | Full-size board with long-term strategy |
💡 Pro Tip: Higher board sizes mean more space but also more complexity. Focus on efficient space usage as the board grows!
Goal Types
Each level has specific goals you must complete. Goals become more challenging as you progress.
Score Goals
- Description: Reach a target score to complete the level
- Difficulty Scaling: Score requirements increase by ~20% per level
- Strategy: Focus on line clears and color combos for maximum points
Line Clear Goals
- Description: Clear a specific number of rows or columns
- Difficulty Scaling: Required clears increase gradually
- Strategy: Plan placements that create multiple line clears
Color Pop Goals
- Description: Pop a certain number of blocks of specific colors
- Difficulty Scaling: Target numbers grow with level
- Strategy: Group same-color blocks together strategically
Combo Goals
- Description: Some levels require clearing multiple lines at once or creating a large single match
- Difficulty Scaling: Combo requirements appear later and scale with board size
- Strategy: Set up overlap turns where one placement completes both a line clear and a same-animal match
Difficulty Scaling
ZooBlocks uses intelligent difficulty scaling to keep the game engaging:
- Block Complexity: More complex block shapes appear at higher levels
- Goal Requirements: Score and goal targets increase progressively
- Board Size: Larger boards require more sophisticated strategies
- Goal Variety: Later levels mix score, row, column, combo, and color-specific objectives
✨ Key Insight: Difficulty scales smoothly - you won't encounter sudden difficulty spikes. Practice and strategy matter more than reflexes!
